Practical Food Gardening in the North - Sunday May 3 @ 9-11 am
Are you interested in growing your own food but don't know where to start? Or maybe you've dabbled in food production with mixed results?
This workshop will focus on food growing from a practical and sustainable point of view. It will cover:
- the best yielding, easiest crops to grow in our short, cool growing season (without a greenhouse)
- the practical aspects of food gardening (site selection, soil preparation, best watering practices etc.)
- sustainable pest management practices, companion planting and crop rotation
- how to build your garden soil naturally
- a Q&A session at the end
You may also join the Hunniford Gardens Food Gardening group. Here we'll post growing tips to support your gardening success.
Based on our feedback from last season's food gardening workshop participants, this year's attendees will go home with a specially selected food growing package valued at $40-$45. It will include things like seeds (peas, carrots, beets), seed potatoes, green leafy vegetables, strawberries, a few pollinator plants and more. There will be a few novelty veggies too.
The cost for this workshop is $70 (plus tax). Any other food growing related supplies you purchase this evening will be 10% off.
Please Note: Purchase one workshop for each attendee. Once purchased, workshop fees are non-refundable. Please see our workshops page for more information.
If you purchase this workshop online, you'll still need to complete the shipping information at checkout.
