Inspiring Northern Gardeners Since 1985
When it comes to pest & disease control, we believe in taking an approach that is responsible, environmentally conscious, and minimally toxic (ideally, non-toxic). This helps protect all of us from unnecessary pesticide exposure; employees, customers, plants, animals, and insects. It also keeps the greenhouse grown plants and natural environment in a healthy balance.
In our greenhouses, we use preventative measures wherever possible. This includes closely inspecting and monitoring plant stock, keeping the greenhouses clean, and selecting pest/disease resistant stock. Should the preventative measures fail, we employ biological pests (such as parasitic wasps, midges, or ladybugs) or gentle insecticides to manage pest problems. This approach is known as Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
